** For the Pioneers Who Came Before **

Patience, patience, still, my brother.
The tide is turned, but the fullness
Of the hour is yet to come; but it will come!

Honor the patriarchs, my brother;
Let not your smile be feigned;
Smile, smile, then laugh---in blackness is no shame!

Remember those who labored, who labored not in vain.

Indeed, if we didn't have any history
to go by, then we would most certainly
be lost; little enough of it is remembered
for what it gave us, to begin with!

Well done, Sir!

This is a revision from 1970 when I lectured in minority studies at University of Nevada Las Vegas. I thought to post it for the present Black History Month celebration. That was during a turbulent time, the collapse of the Black Panther Party, and the winding down of the FBIs COINTELPRO---Counter Intelligence Program, which helped to dismantle the BPP through infiltration, and other actions. The times are indeed changing, Bob Dylan, and much for the good.

Such a sensitive reminder and tribute, dear Art. Patience, oh yes, so many have not seen the end of their sufferings, but they had the endurance of those who believe in themselves and in liberation/evolution.

Significant and touching.

Love,
Margherita

Thank you Margherita. There is a calm reasoning in your voice that would benefit any hearer.

I appreciate your reflecting on this moment in time.
