Across the centuries into eternity

*

The shore stretches
just for us in solitude.
With their wide open eyes
the sun and the sky
follow our every move.
The waves play lazily.
They dare to lick our feet
and to swallow our laughter.

You run ahead of me,
a true whirlwind of freedom.
I choose to step
into your footprints,
just an instant before
the water does the same,
filling our double trace
with its teasing froth.

Suddenly the water
is quicker than me
and you gain in distance.
I then quietly sit in the sand
allowing you to be
the conductor of the game
of life and harmony.

The sun and you.
The sky and you.
The sea and you.
The shore and you.
The world and you.
Your dance of freedom and me,
the voice of love
within your heart,
whispering silently.

The water carries without cease
the echoes of our song
resonating along this shore
and over the sea’s vast expansion,
infusing new life into our one soul,
across the centuries
into eternity.

hi Margherita, you desribe a thing that I know well; following the steps in the sand; I can feel the sea in your precious poem and the burst of waves...I can feel the emotion of the loving people when harmony and majestic sea share thses feelings...Your poem is quite a success.

The allure of the sea is irresistible, as are the lines of this magnificent poem! I am drawn, as surely as if by the undulating tides, unto all things eternal.

Beautiful!

Margherita - my first thoughts were of peace watching the surf, others were of the delightful words of this write...

A beautiful poem Margherita. The sea is like love itself. Both serene and playful, benevolent and wrathful, endless and fathomless. Do we play upon the water's edge, or dare we take the plunge?

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.

Beautiful romantic setting for the body of water and the whole piece was a pleasure to read.

'Twas a beautiful scene you described there!  I really enjoyed the poem.  That really made my day when I almost decided to abhor poetry.

Yo dear Margherita,

Let's hope it lasts a very long time.  I wouldn't bet on eternity though.  Our world is always changing, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Remember, we used to be one big land mass, so many years ago.
