A Mother’s Kiss
by Linda L. Dowd

Lying there, so innocent,
my baby sweetly sleeps.
While beyond the open window,
a swaying, willow weeps.

A canopy of star shine,
spans across her downy bed,
While beams of pale moonlight,
dance across her bonnie head.

Brahm’s Lullaby is playing,
as a ballerina spins on toe.
And on a bentwood rocker,
lies her kitten of calico.

The baby scents of powders,
and of soaps fill up the room.
To me they are far sweeter,
than the finest French perfume.

I listen to her breathing,
as I look upon in bliss.
Then on her moonlit forehead,
I place a mother’s kiss.

Lying there, so innocent,
my baby sweetly sleeps.
While beyond the open window,
a swaying, willow weeps.

A canopy of star shine,
spans across her downy bed,
While beams of pale moonlight,
dance across her bonnie head.

Yo dear Linda,

This is excellent work.  I think this is the best of your poems that I have read.

It takes me back to my baby raising days.

Love Bobby

Oh, how absolutely sweet and heart touching, dearest Linda Angelo Terrestre! I felt this deeply, with your lovely soft voice and the music and of course I have very fresh memories of the emotions of a "Grandmother's kiss" to my little Milo.
There is no greater tenderness!
Thank you so much for sharing this precious gift.

Love and hugs.

What an angel from an angel that you share with us.
This speaks to me softly in a hush of pink
reminding me of my own little angel born and protected under her mother's canape of love eternal

This is a Lullaby all at its best!
And so nice to hear it read, thank you!

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Yes, with your baby grandson, memories such as mine of my two daughters, would still be "fresh" in your mind! Simon and Milo are very fortunate to have a grandmother as loving as you!

Love to you ~ and to your bundles of joy!

Annie ~

I'm glad that you were able to hear the audio. It is a labour of love to find the perfect music to accompany my words.

I have posted over 40 poems with music and my voice recording. If you were to go into Search, you could key in the words "music and voice recording" and select the button "any" under that line ~ and then key in my name as the author ~ and also click on "archives" near the bottom of the page, many of them will pop up. I find the gorgeous music so relaxing, that listen to them often myself! lol

Thank you for your kind comments!

Have a fabulous day,

Linda

But then they should they're brand new people.

Yes, exactly, dear Eric! ~ Love those baby scents! Whenever I smell them nowadays, it brings those warm memories flooding back.

I'll let you in on a little secret. Whenever I am feeling blue and a bit down-trodden, I'll buy myself a bar of Baby's Own soap.  An inner calm befalls me whenever I lather up. The nose knows...

Giving you a hug and a warm smile,
Linda

This is so beautiful Linda. Everything fits perfectly, and the words are lovely.

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.
