  The Velvet Evening Dark

In the velvet evening dark
just beyond all regrets of
   sunset passing,
the shrill din of human
strife, greed, and inequity
surrenders to the quicksilver
   moonlight,
spreading serene stillness
without propinquity,
through this perfect void
of winter field and forest,
beneath a timeless ocean
of beneficent stars;
Only then, Gaia whispers ...
inexorable wisdom and comfort
to the ever-yearning soul.

Very nice. I like your style.

It's always interesting to see the different ways people approach poetry.

I also like your word choices. "Quick-silver Moonlight" I thought was especially nice.

"the shrill din of human
strife, greed, and inequity
surrenders to the quicksilver
   moonlight,
spreading serene stillness"

~ May the moon shine on forever more! ~ as well as Gaia's whisperings.

Another splendid poem from a perceptive mind attuned to the aesthetic. I love the idea of the earth as a harmonious, organic unity.

Soul yearnings and Gaia whispers, all in a beautiful package of velvet dusk when stillness slides on moonbeams, the soft sound of surf, and the wind often holds his breath.  Timeless.  ~ Karen

I really enjoyed this one. The earth mother whispers her wisdom to those that will listen.

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.

Mmmmmm, wrapping myself up in the luxury of this one.

Brilliant lines (but my least favourite image/s in the poem, as intended by you):

"The shrill din of human
strife, greed and iniquity"

- the whole poem I could read every day for the rest of my life and enjoy it more each time.
