on bended knee a melody rose
from her lips in whispers as if she knows
that the thing she asks is an easy feat.
for the One from whom she asks can meet
every need, every promise, He's bigger than she
and when she's not sure what the future will be
again she bends in faith believing
that she's the one He's never leaving.
and the rustle of angel's wings seem to flutter
as in silent reverence I listen to a mutter
that my daughter brings in humble prayer.
she prays for you and with tempered care
lists her desires for you and for her
and I, who doubtful when trials occur,
take heart to remember that it's faith like a child
that calms a storm and tames the wild.
and I find myself believing just a little bit more
as she goes on praying I kneel on the floor
and listen intently to each word she might say
I grasp at the hope that for me she'll convey
a prayer, a wish, if just only a word
for if God listens to anyone I know that it's her!

Yo dear Shelerella75,

There are a lot of good lines in this thoughtful and meaningful effort.  You defiantly have the right idea.

Welcome to PIP Shelerella and my sympathy for your sad loss.

that my daughter brings in humble prayer.
she prays for you and with tempered care
lists her desires for you and for her
and I, who doubtful when trials occur,
take heart to remember that it's faith like a child
that calms a storm and tames the wild.
and I find myself believing just a little bit more
as she goes on praying I kneel on the floor
and listen intently to each word she might say
I grasp at the hope that for me she'll convey
a prayer, a wish, if just only a word
for if God listens to anyone I know that it's her!

And thank you so much for this sweet tender poem
written from the heart, very much enjoyed.

thanks to all for the warm welcome

and thanks to you too, dad... for it was her prayers for you that inspired this one.     oh, and mom, you need to register if you're going to use dad's steavenr to post... you know that people wonder about his gender on here already as it is!

Beautifully poignant! Love is a prayer in itself and children know it.

shellerella, I can see that the little acorn did not fall far from the tree! I'm a big fan of your father's poetry ~ and now I'm a fan of yours!

Giving you a warm, welcoming pip hug,

Wow... WT and EA,

I do not think that anyone could pay me a bigger compliment.  I couldn't dream of supposing that I have a fraction of the talent of my father, affectionately referred to as our "egghead" , so those words hold more weight than you can know!  Thank you!
