Listening to every heart

Letters

I could be writing to a friend
instead of thinking about calling you
knowing this call couldn’t go through
as you’ve already gone ‘round the bend

and my finger tips are slightly blue
as winter caresses this shivering skin
breaking tempers wearing thin
and knowing this doesn’t matter to you

but I thought of you today, and others as well
and I could be writing to a friend
who hasn’t yet gone ‘round the bend
still, I cannot seem to let loose this spell

as your voice echoes in this swell
bringing along other voices to dwell.

Hi Karilea,
interesting rhyme formation but the words are true. It is never those we can reach that we try to, only those gone beyond recall. I guess it's a true saying 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone.'
Anyway I rabbit - good poem.

I enjoyed the wistful, almost-defeated tone of this one.
