She said the morning prayer, then bade us to repair
To church there to attend interment of a friend
A little girl so fair, with satin golden hair
“And thereby make amend to Him who calls our end”
She spoke in voice so drear, she did not shed a tear,
“There part with one held dear, and learn to live in fear.”

I gazed and gazed and gazed, as Jesus Christ they praised
My eyes fixed on the girl, locked on a single curl
My heart completely fazed; she had to heaven raised
And I, left in a whirl, on Earth, here to impearl
With burning tears her face, as she lay in that case
And with a kiss to grace, the one none could replace.

Yo Marc-Andre

You make good use of a modified Alexandrine sonnet form in this sad poem.
