Hi to all my very good friends at PIP. I've just come home again and now look forard to reading all your wonderful poems. Linda Dowd emailed me with the very sad news that our dear friend Marge Tindal
has passed away. we will all miss her, May she rest in peace.

                    I Remember

Memory is a gift from God that we treasure as we grow old

And hope to reach a ripe old age before our mind starts to decay,

For to each & every one of us good health’s worth more than gold

And we hope our path in latter years is free from clouds of grey.

I remember well my youthful years just as if it was yesterday,

The games we played, the fun we had though things were tough back then

But although we didn’t have the things that children have today,

We had enough to guarantee that we grew into honest men.

I remember when pounds were few & we had to tighten up the belt

But it never done us any harm as many lessons it has taught,

We quickly learnt to improvise and play the cards as dealt

To overcome all problems were the answers that we sought.

I remember well the discipline at home as well as school

And how we were taught from an early age to show adults respect,

The trouble in which we would find ourselves should we break the rules

But it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was, as I look back and reflect.

Growing up through those teenage years many problems they produce

But I’ve found that it’s a stage in life that as we live it through,

We learn the pitfalls along the way and try to keep free of abuse,

At least that’s what we’re supposed to do as our wisdom grew.

The night I first met my future wife is vivid in my mind,

It was at a dance at the Epping Hall when I was twenty one,

She had the looks to steal my heart with her manner quite refined,

For she soon meant the world to me and my future path was spun.

After our first nine years of wedded bliss we took our first trip overseas,

For I’d always had a yearn to travel & see life on the other side,

It was the very first chance I’d had to live out my childhood fantasies,

To see all the wildlife in Africa, that life long wish was not denied.

We’ve traveled many times since then around the whole wide universe

And seen how other people live and in lots of places just exist,

It makes one fully realize that abject poverty’s such a curse

And we should do whatever we can to in every way assist.

As my memory strays to earlier days, it’s as clear as it can be

And to the old age club with a clear mind, I’m glad that I’m a member,

I feel so very glad and fortunate to, to live in this land of the free

To dream again while I’m still sane of the things that I remember.

LP, what a pleasure to have you back in the family fold. I really missed you while you were away. Yes, 'twas with a heavy heart that I was the bearer of such sad news. Marge was ~ and will continue to be ~ a treasured member of our Family of Friends.

I enjoyed this walk through your life. There is such a warm, folksy, conversational charm to your writing.

Giving you an extra warm, welcome back hug,
Linda

Yo LindsayP,

It's great to see you up and around.

This is a very pleasant memory of childhood.  It's always nice to remember the good parts.

No you haven't been deserted.  Sheez, whatever gave you that idea?

Welcome back, Lindsay!  I haven't been here much myself of late because some stupid people like myself go back to work when they should be enjoying "retirement".  Thank you for the journey back to the "good old days".  Enjoyed!

LindsayP, this is a marvelous remembrance. I remember an e-mail that Marge wrote me. It was a "lamp unto my feet, a light unto my pathway" during a dark day in my life. She's an angle in the constellation of my fondest dreams!

thanks,
