I sat nearby the chestnut oak;
The clock the seventh hour stroke,
Our scheduled time to join the fete.

I savoured a good cigarette
And fantasized on a nymphette
As I was waiting for my date.

And then I saw the girl approaching
The bench where I was ruminating
In vain the existential marrow.

She sat by me as if by chance
And then we talked of love and France,
Plays of Moliere, Ravel’s bolero.

And thus we sat and talked all night
Graced with the stars and moon so bright
Until the quiet break of day.

As for my date she never came
So I gave up the waiting game
And it was then I went away.

Unexpected ending!

Lovely write, with a nice rhythm too.

Love,
Margherita
