Feline Slumber

Beside the running waters "I sit"
the calm of the stream sooths my mind
the cares of the day drift upward
and relaxation comes with time,

The birds sing there sweet songs
the wind makes the grass sigh
the trees bend with age,
with my old limbs, so do I,

My mind drifts with the sounds of nature
I relax and go with the tide
this is the path i am taking
the tall grass makes it easy to hide

Refreshed from my slumber
I try and catch a fledgling or two
to take them home to my mistress
Because that is what tom cats do...

Oh, Annie, this is precious!  What is your darling, sweetie-pie, kitty-cuddle's name?  Please stroke, kiss and cuddle him from a South African owl.  If I were there, I would be only too delighted to be caught by him.

When he was here his name was Gypsy,
He was a pure white cat, and he had a twin sister called Kerry,
He passed away some years ago now but I always like to remember my animal friends,
And over the years I have had lot,s
Thank you both for your comments..

Thank you for this Annie.  I am sorry (for you, but happy for him) that Gypsy is in Heaven now.  So you won't be able to stroke him and kiss and cuddle him for me, but Flicka (I know you will remember my telling you about my wonderful horse in Heaven) will - even the stroking, he will be able to do with his muzzle.  As I think I told you, Flicka adored/adores all animals, especially dogs and cats.  I know that they know and love each other.  Is Kerry in Heaven too?  If so, Flicka will know and love her equally. If not, please give Kerry the strokes and kisses and cuddles.

Lovely poem, Annie. I have 6 cats and have had many through the years. They do become a part of your life.
