Let no children hear the tale,
To the covered bridge we’ll go;
It is somewhere down this trail,
Built two hundred years ago.

Here the hiss of cottonmouth
Will oft make a maid afraid;
Here the glory once went South:
The Magnolia Station Raid.

Here white masters drowned their slaves,
By the bridge of Jericho;
Here’s where ghosts at night hold raves,
Haunted bridge of Jericho.

Look above, the timber rafters,
Captive soldiers here were hung;
Look below, the calm blue waters,
Wretched mothers babes here flung.

Will you dare to spend the night
On the bridge of Jericho?
The full moon shall shine so bright
On the bridge of Jericho.

Thanks for reading and taking the time to leave a feedback, Annie. I've also read a very-summary report of a ghostly horse rider seen in those regions. If you know a good source to get more, please let me know. I think there is something there for writing a good ballad. Mark
