My childhood isn't all
blue sky and green grass
and lots of sunshine.
There was a lot of dust in it-
too much entirely.

It got everywhere,
in everything.
Most of it lay on the ground
an angry red scab on the earth
where nothing cared to grow except
the occasional empty booze bottle.

Clouds of it
had a habit of hanging in the air.
It practically rained mud.

Sometimes I think that
all this dust
this blightful soil
somewhat spoiled the local disposition.

Sometimes I wonder
if only the wind picked up a little
harder, a little faster
and we were rid
of all this dust
if things would have
turned out differently.

Then I remembered
discomfort is only skin deep
but ill-will is as
far down as the soul.

Now take a deep breath, fill your lungs and then blow the dust off your past, accept it and enjoy this day, which is new and brings new possibilities.

You rendered your thoughts well here.

Love,

I understand this all too well, Bladecatcher.
There was a lot of "dust" in my childhood too but you are so right, you can continue to "dust" up your life or you can move on.
Well said.
