Well, you think you've got troubles ?
Everyone's got complaints
Brother, you aint in my shoes
and should be glad that you aint

You just don't know how fortunate that you are
Come and hear my sorrow and thank your lucky stars

There's a black cloud hoverin' over my head
Most days I'd have to feel better... just to wind up dead

Until the day that I die... I may bow my head and cry
But Mercy doesn't know I'm alive

Well, I was born real long and ugly and my Mama would pray
that I'd take on human features as I gained a little age

I'm glad all that's behind me and I finally changed
to this handsome hunk of flesh that you see here today

My woman rides my back like it's a rodeo
She's got a PBR poster where our Welcome mat goes

Until the day that I die... I may bow my head and cry
But Mercy doesn't know I'm alive

Well, there's a freight train blowin'... hear it callin' to me
There's at least ten thousand places that I'd much rather be

I think of grabbin' my guitar and movin' on down the line
Then that womans' evil eye sends a chill up my spine

She reminds me of Lassie and Old Yeller too
'cuz she hounds me when I don't and she dogs me when I do

Until the day that I die... I may bow my head and cry
But Mercy doesn't know I'm alive

Well, when I'm dead and buried... dont you give me no stone
'Cuz she'll only dig me up just to gnaw on my bones

My wife barks at me and my kids all bite
If I ever find that preacher...he'll be shot on sight

So, in our drinkin' sessions...
don't you sing me your blues
Brother, you don't know depression
until you've walked in my shoes

Until the day that I die... I may bow my head and cry
But Mercy doesn't know I'm alive

****

If you play that guitar as well as you write,Uriah,  I think the world is ready for a good blues singer about now.

This is the best guitar song I've heard since my neighbor sang, "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" (truly a classic) ...please post the melody for this for us music aficionados.

Lordy, Lordy! Have mercy on this poor man!

XO, you have me cryin' in my beer! I have a feeling these were lyrics to a song ~ and a mighty good one, at that! I'd love to hear you sing it while you played along on your Gee-tar!

Very well done!

XO
Linda

XOx Uriah xOX - glad I stopped by for a read. Now if you can pick up that guitar, and I'll get mine, we can sing us a few songs...
