I will walk this path to the end,
which is also the beginning,
for the path is a circle.
And when I am renewed
the old will fall away
to be hidden from view,
concealed behind
a curtain of questions.
Though few may see
beyond the veil,
for some,
moments will come
when a tiny spark
will light the darkened memory
with a fleeting vision
of what once was.

Yo dear Ida,

For me, this poem is somewhat nebulous in meaning.  I’m sure others will understand it well.  I’ve always been a little thick.

Thank you all for reading and commenting.
Karen, I am not surprised that you understand this. I recognize a kindred soul when I see one.

Dear Ida, this is perfect, one of my favorites of yours. To be able to see beyond the veil is so enthralling!

Circles of life keep coming around, either in reality or in memory but sometimes they make us put our guard up to protect our simple but sovereign self.

Very nicely written!

My dear Ida Belle, oh, how your words speak to me.
The circle of life ~ many times over...

Yes, I too, have had glimpses of what once was.

I do so love your poetry ~ and you.

"for the path is a circle"

ah   Galilee   "circle"

How else may one walk through Galilee?
How else might a Galilean walk?

There's a veil?    Remind me to mend mine
It is old and rent in two.

::smiles::

Wonderful write !

Ida, I love your poem and understand exactly what you are saying, in every sense of the word, "understand" and think the same way about myself, but I just want to add that "what is" in you, I am sure is even more than "what was", although I didn't know you during the "what was".  The "what is" is so mature and warm and wise, and in spite of what I said about not knowing you during the "what was", I must say that you have warmed towards us all so beautifully in the time you have been here.  Smiles.

I certainly feel that "what is" in me is better than "what was", although probably nobody else who knows me does!  So, yes, what you said.  Smiles.

This was wonderful Ida.

The circle is the epitome of symbolism.

And you portrayed it beautifully.
