The same medieval societies
that whine about human rights,
when faced with a formidable foe.
have no problem
with the ill treatment of women.
Does this mean
that half their population is not human?

An interesting way of phrasing that, dear Ida.
It truly is an abomination how women are treated in some countries.

Love to you, my friend,
Linda

This is very nice. Hard to believe this still goes on today. But it does...

an 'important' write!

A major scourge of human history has always been large organized religions
[the practices of many (most?) of which often included demeaning treatment of
women at best] ... the world's currently spreading 'evil empire' is Islam ... whose
proponents conjure such unconscionably abominable concepts as the Oxymoron
'Holy War' (Jihad)...[War and attendant atrocities being excused as (allegedly)
"God's will"; etc.] let alone what women have to endure in many Islamic societies.

I applaud all who do any of these 'reality' pennings in a world that (sadly) is not listening (nor likely to).

Something to think about, isn't it, Ida.  I like how you wrote this one.

Yo dear Ida,

I tend not to question other peoples cultures.

I'd get rid of the period after "foe".

A sound question...
you make us think.

The women you write of unfortunately, are not human, they are tools.  Tools to be used as shields against the mens enemies, Tools to be used to reproduce, like the animals in the field, Tools to be discarded when broken,
Tools that have no feelings, wants or desires.

This is so sad and example of the HUMAN RACE, for I take better care of my "tools" than they do of their women.

And the call us "EVIL"   Huh?

Nice thought provoking write.  Well done.  WT.

A very important question and powerfully presented.

Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told.

There are many brave women who are getting organized and ready to defend their freedom and rights, they won't remain slaves for much longer, but still it will be a too slow process of evolution ...

Thank you for this, dear Ida.

Careful, Ida, just to emphasize your point, they may issue a fatwa with your name on it.

Well, I'm older, not in the best of health and a woman. I guess that makes me worthy of a fatwa.
