The Curse Of Being Born Different

The feeling of loneliness I must contend
the knowing that the stares are those of despise
Every bite is scrutinized by disapproving eyes
making me feel guilty for eating to stay alive,

They look upon me as an outcast
a freak to make fun of when ever they like
They don't see the hurt in my eyes
saying I should only be let out at night

I am no different than the next person
I have feelings the same as you
Just because I am different
doesn't mean I don't want love to,

If only I was skinny
and all my clothes fitted me skin tight
I would sway down the high street
instead of waiting for the dead of night

Persecuted because I was born different
a few extra pounds here and there
I know what people are thinking
she's eating in public! How dose she dare?

The feeling of inadequateness certainly is conveyed powerfully in your message, but "different" is beautiful ...

Whoever this is about, I too have those extra pounds, come let's go out together in full sunshine and have fun, enjoying ourselves just the way we are ... let's transform what you call curse into a blessing.

Love and hugs.

Yo dear Anniepimm,

Don't worry about those extra pounds.  Being skinny has it's drawback, and it can cause you a lot of misery.

Margherita unfortunately the poem is about me,
I am one of those obese people that others seem to think that throwing abuse at doesn't matter or hurt,
And bobby i wish i was thin then i would be able to go out and help others.

Thank you both for your lovely feedback..
Annie

From what I've been hearing lately you are not all that "different."

Dear Annie,I don't think that any1 who cares about any "extra pounds" will care about them anymore if they'd read just 1 thing of your writing.
I love UR poems & they don't let me see except such a beautiful lady with a powerful way of writing....

Dear Annie, you ARE beautiful. Truly, you are. Today in our society, there has been so much emphasis put on millimetre perfection. It has been especially difficult for our young people. It breaks my heart to see what some of them do to fit the so-called ideal physical image. Apparently here, in North America, more than 50% of us are over-weight ~ Whatever the heck that means!

I know it sounds cliche to say that it is what is on the inside of a person that counts ~ not the outside. But I truly believe that!

My dearest friend just had bariatric surgery yesterday. Drastic measures to lose a hundred pounds. Will I love her more when she gets all skinny? Nope! I will love her the same. In fact, I'm hoping that her sweet personality doesn't change! lol But I doubt it, she's a sweetie pie to the core ~ as you appear to be as well!

I want to wrap my arms around you and give you a great big kiss on the cheek. Yeppers, you're beautiful!

Might I add, that you are one fine poetess and I am so pleased that you have found your way to our "Circle of Friends" and kindred spirits!

With much love,
Linda

Annie, This was a wonderful poem. I have been on both sides being very thin and obese. I can tell you I was not as happy when I was thin. I wanted to look like everyone thought I should look and it caught up with me. I am 177 pounds and feel better now than I ever have before.

My mother was overweight also. She passed away a few years ago and she was beautiful. I go by a persons personality. That to me defines who a person is. Their actions and words whether in a crowd of people or alone.

It is sad that people have nothing better to do than to try and make others feel bad. Everyone has flaws and differences some people just look harder to try and find them to make themselves feel better about their own issues.

You are a beautiful woman and a beautiful poet. Don't ever let anyone make you feel any different. You are loved for who you are not what you look like. That is what counts. Always know that. Huggs to you!! Keep your chin held high!

Yo dear Anniepimm,

You don't have to be thin to help other people.

Where did you ever get that idea.

Love Bobby

I pack too much padding, too... and have experienced cruelty for cruelty's sake because of it... and knowing you're a good person is scant comfort when you've just been a target. *S*

But you know what? *S* There's hope for us... our outer packaging might change. Their lack of heart is likely to be a permanent condition. *S*

Stay strong... and keep writing! *S* Your heart's an perfect '10'! *S*
