Three candles in a row,
Tall thin steady in the still
They reach and spread their glow,
Not quite the room they fill,
But t’is enough to eat by candlelight.

The wax pools and flows,
Running down the side to table,
Burning down still it shows
The walls and corners when able,
But t’is enough to sit in candlelight.

The wax in one is spent,
It flickers and leaves illumination,
Part of watching has went
Lessening the observation;
But t’is enough to drink by candlelight.

Soon another is gone,
Deepening the realm of shadows,
And with the only one
Reflects on the joys and sorrows;
Yet t’is enough to think by candlelight.

The last leaves darkness,
As that is all the room can contain,
Steals away happy and sadness
Till only me and the dark remains;
And t’is enough to dream void candlelight.

Gloom

Oh, I adore this, dear Aszard, alias Professor Gloom!
I love candlelight so much and I will save this precious poem to read it again.
Your reflections in the light and in the dark are equally beautiful!

Love,
Margherita

The Professor is in fine form, I see. Thank goodness that hasn't changed in all this time. *s
I hope all is well.
