It was through
a honey cloud mist
where I saw her,

grinding gold nuggets
into powder
against,
the belly button,
of a rock.

Her skirt was
the color,
of lagoon
and her hair,
dark,
like a raven’s,
soul.

Pouring water
from a brown earth jug,
she mixed it,
with the
powdered sun,
and formed life cakes
with her hands,
as her toes
laid bare,
and tickled,
in the sand,
all the while,
wearing dear skin
and peace,

for a smile.

Placing these circles
of power and birth
on a burning
mesquite bed,
covered by an ancient,
flat stone,
they sprung back to life,

like a resurrection,
empowered,
by dancing fires
of truth and mystery.

As the savor,
of this alimony
along with the spice
of her semblance
wafted onto the lips

of my tongue,
she looked my way,
as her hail stones
for eyes,
melted,
and bled green
for my spirit,
as she now,
would be,

my river of
dream
my mother world,
my friend
of light,
my lover,

of souls.

As I began to awake,
her catcher of dreams
held me back,
covering me with
the woven blanket
of her desire,
the radiance
of all our fate and
destiny,
bringing us where

we were born,
to aspire.

As the lady of night
climbed on top of the sun
being chased by the howl

of the moon, across skies,

where the clouds stood still,
and the winds grew hush,
in the path of skin,

and sighs.

Richy, I have never read a poem of yours that has not captivated me and swept me away to the world of which you are writing.
I feel them. I dream them. I see them. ~ I experience them. You are a masterful weaver of poetic tapestry.

You have a gift and I'm thankful that you share it with us.

Love and an appreciative hug,
Linda

I seldom even read long poems, because they so often seem forced and over-written, or they lose focus and drift from theme to theme.....but I have learned that yours are a delightful exception.

Yes, delightful, and I pretty much ~needed~ to read a poem like this one just at this particular moment.

Amusemi, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I love your name. It reminds me of Joe Pesci in, Goodfellas for some reason.

Well Eric, not so much rich in the monetary sense, since the gold nuggetts she was grinding was dried yellow corn, but rich, in dreams, nevertheless. And sometimes I guess, that's enough.

Thanks Friend!

You know Michelle, there's someone who looks just like you in my sleep. My dreams are usally kind of hazy though and right at that special moment when things are just about focused... I wake up. (Don't you hate it when that happens?) If you ever see me, wandering around with this kinda dumb look on my face, yell out, or better yet, whisper. I'm dying to share one of those stone ground tortillas with you as we sit along, this river of dream.

When it comes to love
the act of surrender
is pure strength.

The rhythm and pace and writing of "catcher of dreams" is done extremely well, Richy!

I was just kiddin, you know, I really do love the metaphorical beauties in your writing.

That love making at the end is exceptionally romantic in a warm physical sense. Takes the reader right into the scene.

Keep up the good work!

Lookin forward to the next one.....Have a good day.
