My mind it floats upon a sea
There thrown and battered by its whim
Quit happy when the sky is clear
But turmoil filled as storms come in

Today the sky is clear and blue
The water calm without a wave
Surroundings skip with life anew
And thoughts I had don’t seem as grave

I take this breath of wondrous day
Enjoying play of happy friends
Until that rest in peace does stray
And quiet time it slowly ends

The storm clouds come and sea does turn
The calm of once now swells so high
The thoughts of peace are now concern
And wayward thoughts again do try

It passes, but the mind still swirls
Unsettled by the change of pace
The seaweed caught, becomes unfurled
As havoc been, does end its race

I rest now tired of the fight
And wonder why each storm does break
I do suppose it has a right
As I do with each choice I make

This sea is mainly calm for me
I’m sheltered in a bay that’s kind
If storms come in, they’re meant to be
For that is how a strength I find

But just for now I drift in thought
I fish for treasures that might wait
And wonder what this sea has caught
And what will be this drifter’s fate?

The storms are coming, that I know
And quiet days might turn to test
But onward does my voyage go
Upon the sea of never rest

Dear Rick, you have caught here life's characteristics, the up and the downs, in truly wonderful imagery and reflections.

Enjoyed your poetic ponderings greatly!
