No longer strong,
silently screaming.
Needing
something more than this.
Yet, no one notices
anything amiss.

That thing that happened,
the thing that cut me in half,
it haunts me now
hurting every time I think
I might have a life back.

I don’t weep so much for that
as much as for the difference
in me.
Ruined, a façade of what used to be.

What no one seems to understand
is that it isn’t so much you that I lost
or never had,
but rather, all hope
of feeling like that again.

Susan, I do believe I know where you are coming from with this . I've been there and had wondered the same thing, however, I DID come to feel that way again! ~ and may you, as well, sweetheart.

Giving you a warm, understanding, compassionate hug,
Linda

Linda,

You are truly a sweet, optimistic person...thank you for your positive wishes (even if they do scare the bejeebus out of me).

Unless we are made of stone, if someone hurts us, we inevitably drink their poison

very powerfully personal and poignant!

especially the ending:

'I don’t weep so much for that
as much as for the difference
in me.
Ruined, a façade of what used to be.

What no one seems to understand
is that it isn’t so much you that I lost
or never had,
but rather, all hope
of feeling like that again."

'Life' does have quite a way of turning us into
stumbling along parodies of our former selves ...

much applause for this 'penning'!

You worded these feelings so very well and I think many can relate, dear Susan. These are powerful emotions that enter the reader's mind.

But I agree with what others have expressed, life will bless you with more, many more precious gifts to lift your soul.

Love,
Margherita

Susan,

You made me sit here and just think about your words and what they mean and how they make me feel.  I am glad that I didn't miss this one as I took my time of silence.  Your poetry always seems to speak to some part of me -  Thank you.

Susan - as you know life is so short and goes by too quickly. Many have been where you are, yet things will change, as they do... Wishing you that the best is ahead of you...

I feel so very sad for you dear Susan and if my good wishes for you bear fruit then the sun will shine again for you. Don't loose faith for we are all pulling for you.
Love.

Sometimes something wonderful sneaks up on us when we least expect it and changes everything. Hope it happens for you. Interesting title.

"all hope of feeling like that again."

No, no, no. It will be again, I promise you. I believe most of us have been on this road. The out come is up to you. Your positive side has to show through so that one day when you least expect it, that special person will see the sweet side of you and you will once again be swept off your feet and held in great esteem. latearrival
