Just The Way It Is (Today, Maybe Not Tomorrow)
Or I Can Be Indecisive If I Want

The sky was washed with remnants
of bruised shimmers of pink
that dusted billows of steam pulsing
streams from the power plant into the sky.
It had no place to go but sideways.

The expression that a silk purse
can be made from a sow’s ear
sang in my mind as I drove
through the cold bites of ice fog,
looking at a town that resembles Siberia
at its ugliest, most flat and desolate, moments.

I’d rather the ear remain on the sow
than become a purse that I never will use.
And if I wanted to live in Siberia,
I’d have moved there ions ago; but, honestly
I never saw any redeeming geographic features.

So,  I watch a lonely train going nowhere
as it scatters particles of pollution sideways
and, idly, I wonder if I am part of a Gulag.
Maybe I didn’t know or just plain forgot.
Maybe this day is simply misplaced
with the ones that came before it.

And, I realize with clarity the reality
is that I have grown to hate the cold
that batters my bones brittle.

Uhh..can I just say "wow" for the record... ok, what are you having and can I have some?

The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone.

Well I know what you mean.....I'm Canadian and we tolerate the cold we never ever get used to it.

Love many of the lines in this all the same.

Kris,

I will happily share anything with you.  Maybe we could make it a picnic and share with each other because you certainly capture me with your poetry.

I have missed you.

Ack, I hate it when I double post.  It's late, and I am tired and my stinkin' dial up wins for the night!
