You boarded on the train one morn in June
Lay on my berth, took me in your embrace;
It soothed my soul and set my pulse apace,
I knew you thought we were on honeymoon.
And I confess your scent made me aswoon:
I couldn’t think of any better place
Than where our fingers tightly interlace,
I ’m sure you know to me your love’s a boon.
I also know you couldn’t be all mine
No more than my torn heart could be all yours
For it was not in destiny’s design
To let my heart be won by your allures,
You would not leave your husband’s old confine
E’en after living numerous amours.

Tremendous cross sections of emotions. We are searching for perfection sometimes through things that are wrong but yet feel so good.
Loyalty can be so confining sometimes but then what do we all have without it?
Another set of problems maybe?

Great writing as usual Marc!

Thanks for dropping by, Eric. Your comments are highly valued, as always. It does feel nice to receive such nice feedback from someone with such writing skills as you   I do agree with you on loyalty; my poems are not necessarily about what's morally right, they're simply on the human nature. Perhaps it's just me, but I think that most of us after reaching a certain age, can relate to this.Here I tried, even though narrated in a single point-of-view, to let the reader feel the emotional responses of both parties.Mark
