The Tale of the Critical Husband

In a restaurant worked a fine waitress
that was appreciated by the men that came in.
She was married but didn't wear her ring,
her husband was neither her lover nor friend.
When she was at home her husband treated
her mean and criticized her constantly,
when working in the restaurant her customers
took the time to compliment her graciously.
As her feelings for her husband grew less and less
the men in the restaurant felt her distress.
They told her what a beautiful woman she was.
They told her how fine a waitress she was.
One day she decided to walk away from him,
the critical husband that didn't understand.
For her there would be no desires to turn back.
No matter how hard he tried she never came back.

I know a couple who lived this story.  It took her sixty-five years, but she walked.

Good poem, James.

James,

Husbands that are critical should be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit, and put on life support.

I don't blame her. We all need commendation from time to time. That's why I'll give you commendation on the story and presentation of this poem.
