old apple tree,
so sad
so old,
scared by wind,
so sad
so old,
scared by birds.
so sad
so old,
scared by me.

Yann, je pleure pour ton arbre.  Dis-lui que je l'aime.  Il a besoin de l'entendre, et c'est en tous cas, vrai.

man...the only French word I know is Wii ...oh, wait...that's what the kids are playing...oh, well...lovely...curious, though and forgive me for asking, but are you using the word 'scared' or 'scarred'...just curious...and I'm not as bi-lingual

I wish I knew French and I come from the only totally officially bilingual province in Canada.

Guess I have to try harder. I put my daughter in French Immersion here in our school system and I've never regretted it and neither has she at the tender age of 35.
She speaks French very well and it's always been a boon to her existence.

Take Care

Eric

Thank you Ethome, you are right to be bilingual can be more than helpful, it can be playful and interesting to discover others... I guess you come from Quebec which must be bilingual.

Yo Yann,

This poem works well.  It brings back some memories for me.

I used to have apple trees when I lived in the country.  I used to scare them in the fall to make them drop their apple.

I miss the apple trees, they were one of the few things I liked about farm life.

yann,
I must confess.  The Wii remark was my feeble attempt at humor...the only time I can remember using another French word correctly was when I corrected my young grandson when he pronounced Gran Prix for the very first time.  (He pronounced it with a short i and a very American x--and wondered why everyone snickered.)  Unfortunately, any other word I might know would have to do with food. «smile»

Awww, the poor old apple tree. Did you really scare it? You must have been a very brave lad! I hear that they can wrap you in their branches and squeeze the daylights out of you!

I got a kick out of all of the responses you received, as well.

Loves 'n apples,
Linda

Thank you Linda, actually not, but this apple tree seems so old, how can anything don't scare it, it must keep strong roots to maintain it in the air...Thank you for the kind comment.
