The Sheriff came
and took the bullet
off the dresser
in my bedroom.
Now there's a hole
in my roof
and a hole the ceiling.
Proof that what goes up
must come down.
Someone was celebrating
last night.
Someone stupid
or drunk...
probably both.

I'm okay, I wasn't in the bedroom. My friend and I were in the family room watching a movie. I heard the shot but didn't know it had hit the house until I went in to go to bed. I stay home on New Years because there are so many people out drinking and driving and now they're trying to shoot me and this isn't the first time.

Ida, when I read the title of your poem, I thought I was in for a bit of your witty humour! Well, it was witty but it sure wasn't 'funny' funny!
Good grief! Is one not safe even in their own home?!? ~ and you say this wasn't the first time?!?

What a way for your new year to begin! Well, look at this way, my darlin' Ida Belle, into every year some 'rain' must fall so let's hope that that was yours for the entire year! May it be clear sailing from here on in!

I am protecting you and your home with protective White Light and sending my angel posse to stand forever on guard!!!

May better things be coming your way in 2009!

Thank you , Linda. Nothing could make me feel safer. Yes a few years ago (the day after New Years Day) Some gang members (they weren't even from around here)shot up my house and cars while trying to shoot some guy walking down the street. Actually, they shot him in my driveway but he recovered. On a lighter note, I just want to wish you the best year ever.

Oh my gosh, Ida! I am so glad you are okay. I was sitting here last night, when it sounded like someone shot at my house. It almost scared me to death.

Yo dear Ida,

I don't like guns, and would never own one.  So it wasn't me.

“I am protecting you and your home with protective White Light and sending my angel posse to stand forever on guard”  Oh Linda, you are too cute!

Okay that’s it, from now on I’m wearing my 49er commemorative football helmet, inside the house on New Fears Grieve!

Be careful Ida, you might want to consider sleeping, under the bed next year.
