"Grief Departed"

There came a time I'd thought my life had ended
And hope, to me, seemed oh so far away
For Grief and I were bitterly befriended
Together wallowing in slow decay

I saw no light beyond the endless shadows
Heard no consoling voices from the gloom
Just Grief and I together at the gallows
His noose around my neck like certain doom

I begged each lonely night to be released
While Grief crouched at my bedside smiling
His whispered words of sorrow never ceased
His tender voice so soft, beguiling

Yet now I've left those nightmare days behind
As Grief and I have went our separate ways
And though peace is not an easy thing to find
At least I know it's never far away

I have felt this way, and you wrote Grief as it should be written.  Happy New Year to you.

Arius Miura de Galdri - enjoyed reading this writing, as it brought back memories of the one called 'Grief'. However, I kicked him out one day, and he has not returned. Nice write, and wish you the best...

Thank you so much everyone!  Everybody here is so amazing, I'm glad that you all enjoyed this poem, and that so many of you can relate to it.  Grief can be a powerful thing, until you realize that it really has no hold over you at all.
