I promise that when I feel like whining about our Wyoming cold and wind I will think of you in Alaska.  I bet you see some amazingly frigid days where the only option is to hole up.  Wonderful Haiku and photo-yours (photo)?

Dear Alison, you are so right, I'm down here in Cali, and I'm freezing, the temp is in the low 40's. I imagine thats fairly pleasant by your standards.

Beautiful picture.
Beautiful words.
Beautiful poet.

Merry New Year!

You just whine away. Alaskans whine about the weather all the time!  It's too hot or it's too cold or it's too rainy or it's too dry or it's too snowy or it's too icy!!! We would have nothing to talk about if we didn't whine about the weather.

This particular picture was taken yesterday at about 2:00 pm.  It was -48.  We have warmed up today to -25 and you would not believe how happy my dogs are!  My car is happy too.

Happy New Year.

Alison

Annie,

You started with such lovely words to me.  Thank you for reading and taking the time to let me know that you enjoyed.

Happy New Year.
Alison

-

RDB,

I hate to break this to you, but someone has to.  May as well be me!  You can't come to Alaska.  There's a new state law against you visiting - you are too darn nice and would melt all the ice fields!

Love you, darlin'.
Ali-girl

-

Linda,

I wish you good health and all the happiness in this new year.  You make my world smile so often - thank you for that.  Thank you also for reading and commenting with the gracious words you so generously share.

Love,
Alison

-

Rich,

I would love to say that I would be so warm there - but I would probably be cold too.  But, where you have me is in the summer heat.  I seriously get sick in high temperatures.  80 is about tops for me, thank you very much!

Happy new year, my friend.

It's -21 here and I don't have to imagine how cold it is that's for sure.

I am having a hard time to recognize the beauty of it but I do have to say there are some beautiful days in winter that I wouldn't trade for anything.
Especially the sun on the snow clinging to the trees in the forest....A beauty that is incomparable.

Take care and stay warm.

I have often told family, friends and colleagues about you and your winter and your Alaska, when we complain about the cold here, which is a joke in comparison!

You should be paid a huge salary for promoting your wonderful Alaska the way you do.  I can't believe that anyone could do it better.  You have me thirsting for more and more about your exciting corner of the world, and for journeying there vicariously.

Dear Alison, the colors in your wonderful picture are warm and golden, it is difficult to associate them to ice cold. I am sure I would freeze on the spot though!
So very beautiful to see with your eyes.

Love and warm hugs.

Eric,

Thanks for reading and commenting.  -21 would be a heat wave right now.  We are hovering between -48 and -50 at the moment.  It's all a matter of perspective, I guess.

Alison

-

BC,

I am glad that your eyes are open to the beauty of the colder winter days.

Thanks for stopping by.

Usually, I love my home.  I am struggling this week.  It's beautiful but oh so cold.  Anyway, I have some pictures that I am going to drop into your email tomorrow.

Love you,

Beautiful write on a beautiful photo. Yes, "freezing cold" is beautiful, keep posting it so I can enjoy all its beauty from the tropics. Those January days, you know, last week I had to wear a t-shirt and turn off the fan at night... Have a wonderful day! Mark

Those of us from Minnesota sure can! There's nothing like it.

I may be the only person here that understands what -50 really feels like on your skin, go team us!

Viking_metal, you are not alone here. Just that I got away from it I'm Canadian, and I have lived in Whitehorse, Yukon. If that isn't cold, I don't know what is Mark

Marc-Andre,

I could handle a bit of your weather right now for sure.  I visited Whitehorse a couple of years ago - had driven through it before - it's nice and looks a lot like where I am from.

Thanks for reading and rubbing it in (grins)

Alison

-

viking_metal,

Yep, often ya'll are colder than us.  That's a good thing from my perspective.  Thanks for reading and stopping by.

Alison

-

Bobby,

You get your share of cold, I know.  I am not loving this winter - I see the beauty but it's like looking at a beautiful person who is not all that good.  Know what I mean?

Love,
Alison

-

M-A,

Thank you again.

I just had to let you know it's warmed up to -18 here and it's quite a heat wave....I know that's not very cold by your Alaskan standards so I hope you're surviving.

Dear Alison thanks for sharing this piece of enlightened poetry...I'm very interested by differences of climates on the Earth and I guess you have very cold weather in some places of USA...I can only imagine.

In my country I have only one inch of snow during one or two days by year...So your poem bring me a bit of harmony for some seconds.

have a nice day

Eric, Yann, and Diana,

Thank you for reading, enjoying and for your thoughts about me surviving our rather coldish winter.  All is well here - we have warmed up to more Eric-like temps - and the spring sun is starting to show its beauty.  I went flying up in the mountains with friends the other day and will try to share the beauty in a poem.

You are all very special to me - and I'll send more, Diana.

Love,
Alison

I very much want to visit Alaska... but I'm thinking I'd better aim for mid-summer! LOL I know this suthern gal would turn into an over-sized snow cone in an Alaskan winter so I'll just experience its winter beauty through your eyes and pen. *S*
