Wants

It seems like "just yesterday"
when the call came through,
awakened before midnight,
an hour before "New".

A year of torment, of anguish in care.
A year in which missing, so lacked in prepare.

So much has been taken for granted you see
When one celebrates life but forgets what could be:

When the drinking takes over
When the thoughtless still drives
Then results become horrid
Just trying to survive...

Yes, it seems like "just yesterday"
when my life took a turn,
moving backwards in time,
Wants: this year to adjourn.

Hoping this year makes up for last Maureen.

Thank you Richy...I was talking to someone today saying how the holiday actually promotes drinking and it's just those who get caught or are in accidents that learn the consequences of the action of drinking.

Stayed home last night~~ am safe today.

Maureen,

Your message rings out strong.  Thank you for sharing yourself as you do.  Your poetry seems to call to me .. so I listen and come and read.  I never regret the time spent sharing what you share.

Thank you.

I know what you mean, Maureen. I am so ready for a new life. Preferably one without loneliness.

Hey Maureen I have only the best of well wishes for you as we go back a long ways and I know some of the troubles you've gone through....Too many I would suppose for a sensitive tender poet lady.....However, remember, there's always sunshine after rain!

Alison, I only began writing, at least on line, after my father passed away. Shortly after that I discovered  a poetry site which led to another and then to this one where several of us followed one another, knowing it was a very caring site.

Friendships endured, meeting many on here in some of the same circumstances needing an outlet.  And others who wrote for the love of it and still others who were always there to lift you up when life's events let you down.

Thank you E, for being one of those caring and understanding friends. I have learned so much about myself on here... and know that after all I have been through, I can make it a better year for those in my life.

Ida, thank you for reading.

Wishing all a happier new year.

Amazing message in this one Maureen.  I am afraid our New Years was VERY quiet with not the sound of one car out there.  Our roads were just too slippery to chance going out.

Happy New Year to you, and you have the idea right, it is all about making it better for someone else.

Thank you, Sharon... I try my best to share the best of times with friends. Sometimes I myself get dealt a bad hand, but I have survived and am stronger for it.

Steven, some say my smile is my best asset
Thank you for bringing that to me tonight.
