Measure of the written word

Enter one lonely and bedraggled thought,
Accompany it with content and aptitude,
Fill it out with the memory of the writer,
In addition, there you have the making of potential,

Big words that make meaning sound impressive,
Words that most people do not understand,
How are the uneducated, and unread?
Supposed to enjoy the meaning of big beautiful words,
When in reality they do not understand them,

If long non-understandable words
Is the only way to express the mind of the ingenious?
Then the meaning of beauty in the written word is lost,
Lost to a whole new audience of potential thinkers,

Mind stretching writings created
In a language of the simplest kind for us all,
Like those who have the brightest of minds,
But cannot express it at all,

Man created words to communicate between one another,
In addition, it started with the simplest of forms,
Have we now lost the art of the simplest of communication?
A better understanding for us all,

The smallest of words give the most joy,
The words that even the youngest of us all understand,
Love, Joy, Family, Friends,
These are the words to put meaning to any written memory,
To me these are the most impressive of all.

Annie..

Indeed they are the most impressive, and I can't hear them enough.

Thank you, I am one of those that don't understand long words, and half the time they scare me

nicely done...remarkably insightful, but I still find myself drawn to those big words (if they're not used for show--the trouble is finding them in a natural usage...enjoyed the write
