Year In Review

is tragedy a noun
or a verb
as I look at
the year in review
I have overextended
my emotions
and I feel I deserve
this new arrival
lately, I admit
I have prayed selfishly
as the tears fell constantly
on window pains
feeling like I am looking
out more than in
I question everything
as resolution is in why
but find there are things
with no ground in reasons
I have been
around the world
and back
traveling in
my own shoes
that still fit
yet,
placing them carefully away
with that journey over
blindly tomorrow
I face life
with a new compass
following a new horizon
for nothing is out of reach

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
— Nelson Mandela

Awesome way to see the year coming Helen, and yes, so many things are obtainable if you believe they are.

Happy New Year m'friend.  All things are going to end well - truth will win out - you watch.

That's always where I find my head hitting the brick wall... and that wall's still doing just fine. *S*

I love this... I've never been one to believe in entitlement... but oh, yes... better is deserved. *S*

Superb!!!

Helen - You're too gracious for tears to fall. Wish you the best in the new year...

Helen,

This poem speaks to me from beginning to its end.  Wonderfully written - and may 2009 bring you joy and peace.

Just remember dear Helen that on that compass,

N stands for New Places you want to see
E stands for Everywhere you’ve already been
S stands for Somewhere over the horizon
And W
That stands for Wonders you haven’t seen yet.

Happy travels, but If you ever lose your way, just do what I do, and look up
PIP is up there, somewhere in the blue.

Helen, I hope your New Year is much better than the 2008 was.

this really struck me:

"I have prayed selfishly
as the tears fell constantly
on window pains
feeling like I am looking
out more than in"

may the New Year be a good one for you

So long, 2008!

It's onward and upward! Keep on trekking and into new, friendly territory!

"I face life
with a new compass
following a new horizon
for nothing is out of reach"

With a positive attitude like that, there are no limits!

May this new year be one of inner peace, prosperity, and wonderful new beginnings!

I was happy to take down that calendar,
put up the new one offering 'more opportunities'
to make the most of each day.
Helen, that final stanza is uplifting.

Happy New Year to you.
