Mountain Man,

A man Came down from the mountain,
As far as we know, he didn't, have a name
His stature was tall and strait his lips were still and unspoken
And the towns folk fled as he came,

His walk was steady his eyes, never altered.
He still did not speak
The ground, beneath him crumbled as he walked
It’s no wonder he was feared by the meek,

With his legs astride he towered in the main street,
His skin set hard like wood
It seemed nobody dared approach him
Lets face it, only an idiot would

The sheriff, stumbled out to meet him
You could hear, the lump in his throat
Then the people started praying
The sheriff’s chances, were far less than good,

The sheriff stopped in the street he was trembling
The monster removed his hat and bowed his head
The sheriff went for his gun at the advantage
And the mountain man shot him down dead,

He replaced his gun and came over to the body
He knelt down beside it and he cried
I only came in for milk and some honey...
Because of my size this one has died,

The mountain man thought everyone crazy
He never came down from the mountain again
He lived in peace without a reason
He thought that we would, be the same,

He went away still crying like a baby
The sad stare in his eyes said it all
He saw no hope for us we are finished
As we have to shoot When a neighbour calls,

So many times, we have looked up
At the snowy rocks, buried in the skies
We wonder how a big lonely child feels
When a boy he was playing with
Dies,

Annie

Sad, but full of wisdoms.  Enjoyed your Mountain man...have a character similar in a book I started to write years ago.  It was set in Lincoln, MT.  Then the uni-bomber showed up.  I quit writing the book....

That is a shame that you stopped, if there is a story to tell nothing should really stop it from being told,
Thank you for the feed back..
