Loving Hands
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As spinning wheel spins ‘round ‘n ‘round,
~ Into strands, soft wool is spun.
With knitting needles and balls of yarn,
The sweater is then begun.

Into every stitch is perled a kiss,
As loving hands toil away.
~ Knitting a sweater for one held dear,
For warmth on a cold winter’s day.

~

Some use wool... others use words. *S* You've just given warmth and comfort. *S*

That beautiful sweater will be worn proudly
by the person who wears it, as it is knitted with love and if you are the one knitting, my dear Linda it will be worn with pleasure. Love you.

Linda - I can really use a warm sweater here where's it's cold, or even a nice warm blanket would work. As always, you write well...

I wish I had a sweater like that!

Misty One!

I thought I detected the scent of lilacs and had to pop in to see if you had come for a visit!

Marti, what a treat to hear from you this fine winter's day! I hope that you had a very merry Christmas!

Sending my love and best wishes for a wonderful new year for you and your family!

Thank you for this, Linda.  You made me remember the many sweaters I knitted for my boys while I "stood guard" over their sleeping hours.  Those days are gone now and I'm pretty sure I'll never knit again.

Happy New Year, dear Linda!

Dear Linda, the words you knit keep us warmer then any sweater ever could.

I could use a pair of knit booties though for my cold toes lol.

I so missed your lovely poems!

Loved the beautiful picture.
The one in the poem, and the one,
of you.

Merry New Year!

Richy!!! My goodness, the new year is off to a good start! So good to hear from you!

I will knit you the warmest little booties with (as my Mom used to say) "a hug and kiss in every stitch".

May 2009 be the best year ever for you and your loved ones!

Warm hug and best wishes!

Maga Margherita que bonita! I trust that your Christmas was VERY merry and bright! ~ and may every day of the new year, be likewise!

I am so pleased that my poem is bringing so many warm memories to you and to our fellow pipsters. My Mom enjoyed knitting sweaters for my sister, my brother and I ~ and we all enjoyed wearing them. My favourite one was that of a skater! I think I skated before I could walk! lol Mind you, nowadays, I walk far better than I can skate! lol

I'm more of a 'crocheter' and I have whiled away many an hour lovingly crocheting items for my two daughters (and their dolls) as they were growing up. I was smiling with every crook of the hook!

Happy New Year, my darlin' Dolphina!

Eric, may this new year be joy-filled for you and your loved ones,

Linda
