Where I've Been and Where I'm At

Through my life I've been around;
I've seen from each point of view.
I've belonged to each "social class,"
To every group in school.

First I was the so-called geek
With few if any friends.
Imagination was my key,
But my world was all pretend.

Next I was the "wanna-be"
Always trying to fit in.
The lonliness I felt through that,
Where should I begin?

Then I turned into a slut
With short skirts and skin tight clothes.
All my friends had left me, but
Guys followed wherever I'd go.

Next I was the popular girl;
The blonde bimbo cheerleader kind.
Then I took the drugs and drank
Anything that I could find.

After that I was a freak.
Different was my middle name.
I changed my entire life
So I wouldn't be the same.

Then came who I am today
Catching up on all I missed.
Enjoying life's little things,
Too many things to list.

I've learned what life's about
And I've learned how to have fun.
I've learned how to express myself
Through all the things I'd done.

Now I don't just follow the crowd;
I say what I really feel.
I'm not ashamed of who I am.
The me I show is real.

I've finally shown the world that
Their lives don't depend upon their past;
That if you accept yourself
You'll find happiness does last.

**This is my first post here, so please tell me what you guys think! P.S. I didn't mean to offend anyone by what I said in there about all the different groups, it's just what I've seen from them.

I liked this poem alot. It has a good rythm, and I can relate from drifting in and out of groups, for me minus the popular girl and slut stages.

Despite my general aversion of throwing people together in clear cut social groups, I thought it was great. Can't wait to read more of yopur postings.
