In my world where there are no destinies
No sorrow or death important enough
To empty my days of joy
This childhood innocence i have denied myself
Has been there all along-
I see it in my father's eyes
As he gazes off into the distance, maybe
Wishing he was in a different place with
a different life and a different child
And a bigger bank account
I see it in my sister's eyes as
She watches the boys on TV
Wishing she was there with them
And they'd look at her and see beauty
She thinks she is devoid of it
How can I help them and change their minds
How can I complain when I am so ordinary
So normal and smart and slightly on the plump
side
How can I complain when my life is so good?
I see the sorrow of others and I feel so
small
Insignificant
Inconvenient
Unable and unwilling
Selfish, different, obtrusive
I want to disappear into my innocence
Envelope me in it's warm comfort
Like the blanket I had when I was
Younger-
