Closer to Hell...

0 posted 2006-09-26 10:16 PM

I'm really new here (Just joined in today actually) But I've been reading Passions in Poetry for some time now.
I won't lie I'm not very good at writing poetry. (Inspiration strikes once in a blue moon)But I really love to read other peoples poetry and I'm not the type that notices other writers mistakes.

I'll tell you just a little about myself(For anyone who really cares) I'm a girl just starting to figure out what she wants out of life. I'm an aspiring artist but I also have a passion for books and love to read all kinds of works. Aside from that I'm very active and have lots of friends and free time. (Obviosly free time)

I also got my first comment ever! (I'm so happy!!)
Maybe it was a little soon to post a poem but I just wanted to see if anyone would look at it.

From what I've seen there are a lot of good writers/poets here. I hope to see more and more and to give lots of support! I also hope everyone doesn't think I'm a total dorko for writing so much and taking up precious space.(Tell me if there's anything offensive or possibly banning so I can correct it)

Thanks alot!

Hello Kira,

First, I'd like to welcome you to Passions in Poetry...

And, I'd like to assure you that you are more than welcome to do more reading and commenting than you are posting.  We'd love to see what you write, but if you are more content to be primarily reading, then so be it.  There are very few rules here (common sense stuff) - and none of them say that you HAVE to post any number of poems.

I hope this great site is an inspiration for you in whatever way you desire..

Have a Happy Passions Day...

Nancy

Hi Kira.

I think I disagree with Nan that the rules are common sense, because people tend to break some of them totally by accident.  It's worth reviewing the guidelines if you haven't already, because it's kind of embarassing to get a poem pulled for some minor breach of the site's rules.

It's good that you're so enthusiastic about this site.  I hope you have a great time here at Passions.

Brian

Thanks for the warm welcome! (Advice is greatly aprreciated!) I'm so excited that my poems are going to be read by people who actually love poetry as much as I do. It's kind of hard when those closet to you think that it's stupid or has no meaning. (It has meaning to me) I guess poetry is my outlet, the parts of me no else one sees...

I agree that it IS hard when the people you love think it is a waste of time to write. Yet, no matter what they think it's not a stupid thing and don't give up writing just because someone says it's dumb. It's harder then it looks! And, yes, that blue moon doesn't show up that much in my life... lolz

Okay, I seem to be rambling, again! What I meant to say is welcome to passions. I'm glad you decided to join and I hope the site is as encouraging to you as it is to me.

Warm welcome!  I've been around here a long time and have only good to say about Ron who makes these blue pages possible to all the wonderful, helpful, talented, tolarant poets who frequent them.  The moderators are great to help you with any needs, too.
