In the space between moments

First, hiah all.   Once again, I've been scarce.  My life is sooo hectic.  I do what I can to pop in though.

Okay, lets get to it.  I have this friend whom I used to be very very close to.  We had quite the falling out last year and although we aren't fighting anymore, we haven't been all that close ever since.

So, she comes over to see me tonight (which is odd within itself), but here's the kicker-- she brings with her copies of everything I've ever made for her...pictures I've drawn her, valentines I've made her, letters I've sent her.  She said she was going through her scrapbook and saw them and made me copies...

So, my question to you all is-- what does this mean, if anything?  Is she reaching out somehow?  Is she mad that I'm not the friend I once was?  Is it nothing more than just a gesture she thought I'd appreciate?  I'm soo baffled.  My first instinct was to write her a letter and tell her that I miss being close to her.  Because I do.  But then I thought about it and decided that I always react immediately to things, so I thought I'd sit on it for a couple of days before I decided what to do.

Any advice for me?

Were those actual copies, or the originals she brought back to you?  The answer has immediate ramifications, which you can well deduce without our lay input.

They were copies.  She copied everything and three hole punched it, and brought it to me.  She said something about how she ran across them in her scrapbook.  We made small talk, and then she had a meeting to run to.  That's about all I remember because I was so taken back.

That was an olive branch Alwye I am inclined to think.  I don't understand what has happened over the years that we can't just come out and say how we feel to each other anymore.  I think if she didn't still care, she would not even have bothered bringing you what she perceived to be items cementing your relationship with her.  I see absolutely nothing wrong with cutting right to the chase and asking her if she misses you as much as you miss her.  If she says no, there is your answer to move on, but if she says yes, then you have back about one of the most important things in life - a good friend.  Good luck!

This reminds me of something my Gramma taught me 40 years ago honestly!  She would say, "Good friends will like you in spite of your faults, remember that."  She was right, friends are forgiving.

This one is pure and simple, what does your heart say?

I think you should go with your first instinct, and write her what you feel. Thats what i would do anyways.

Good luck.

I find i cant really rely on myself.

Thanks everyone.  I did write her a letter right after I recieved the copies she made me.  I held onto it, unsure if I should reach out-- until today.  I thought about the fact that we never know what direction our lives will take and I decided that whatever happens, it's important that she knows how I feel.  So I guess I'll see what (if anything) comes of this.  So far she hasn't said anything, but I haven't seen her in person again and I just gave it to her today.  I'm slightly nervous, but it's in her court now.

You will let us know if she extends her hand to you in friendship won't you.  Life is sure a learning experience, and this would be a good lesson to learn from.  I am hoping she will
