I kind of feel left out, I see so many people replying to everyones poetry in the open poetry forums but somehow mine only get 1-5 replies in the most. I am beginning to feel like I am not good enough to be here so I am going to decide whether to stay or go in a week. See ya all later.

Well, mostly my poems get 1-5 responses also but I am still going to carry on posting here because I enjoy it and I enjoy reading what others have written, i used to post at another forum most of the time and became way too bothered about how many responses they got and kinda took it personally if I didn't get many but I have since come to realise that responses are but a secondary thing, if you enjoyed writing the poem or it helped you in some way to write it then that is the main thing, if that makes any sense, hope that you keep posting and I will keep an eye out for your poems!

I like the responses and I am taking it peronally because, responses are based on a popularity of your writing and I no longer have motivation to write

I disagree Kellie. If you search MY name you'll find a lot of my work has fewer than 7 replies. There is only so much time to read here and not many have the time to sit and reply to poems all day.

It's not the number of replies - it's that you've written the poem and expressed yourself in some way.

Kellie, You can't take it personally because poems are read  by far more people then the responses posted.

I don't get many more than 4 or so responses unless my poem happens to touch someone enough that they feel they have something to reply.

And yes I have my following...some people enjoy a certain style  of writing more than others or they have a poet  whom they like to read..and it may not always be you.

Also some poets have been here for a long time and  their works are recognized. Give it time..if you have to ask for responses..many times you won't get them..there are some  new poets  who do that saying please respond in their titles. I will read it as I do most all poems when I have the time...but I won't respond because someone  asks me to unless they want an opinion or I want to respond.

It isn't a popularity contest by who gets the most responses either..(some very fine poems  get few responses and slip off the pages)

that  would mean then that the poem has no meaning to others and that  "friends" are responding only to the person.

So  stay awhile..read and respond to a few poets  that you enjoy..and I am sure you will build up a following and friends too..it takes time.

You can be inspired rather than motivated by looking at the poems and finding  a phrase or a title or  a word that  gives you an idea for a poem...motivation must come from within..inspiration comes from without and believe me there is alot of inspiration on these pages...I am always surprised that anyone can have writers block if they read here on passions.

I am just trying to  keep you here...I hope that's ok with you..

K_C,
If one person is touched by your words,
who cares how many responses it gleans?
That's sort of cannibalistic --
to feast on replies not for their individual worth,
shining through the chaos,
but for their combined total quota response check-off popularity sheet got-another-one-now-I-feel-worthy mindset.

Kellie,

I think we all enjoy the replies...  but it
goes beyond just the replies...and I agree
with Poet DeVine....

I think we all have days when we just feel
overwhelmed by the poems posted and we may
only make a small dent on replies to the
total enormity of poems that flow through
PiP each day...  There is a lot of beautiful
poetry on these pages each day...

I hope you rethink this and give yourself
time to become more read...it comes with
time..
