I got a call from the school today. It was from my son's new teacher. I went into immediate "alert" (picture a dog's ears going up) But she said immediately..."This is a happy phone call."

She went on to say, that although she is just getting to know my son? That he is "cooperative, intelligent, witty without being disruptive, and asks insightful questions that lead to interesting discussion."

Okay..she also added that she received a shipment of computers this morning, and she had not a clue what to do with them. grin...she added that he had unpacked, set up, and got five of them "ready to drive" in an hour.

She closed our conversation with this:

"I can't tell you how many awful phone calls I have to make to parents. This one is a joy." and? she said, "It's kids like that, that make me look forward to the teaching again. I only wish I had one of him in each of my classes."

BEAMING....JUST BEAMING....mind if I dance?

Yes, the worries are HEAVY. But the rewards...oh, somebody? pull me back down to earth...soaring, I say, just SOARING WITH PRIDE.

And rightly so Karen. You're obviously doing somthing right!! Congratulations on having such a fine lad for a son!! What a great phone call to get, and how nice that the teacher took her time to tell you this. We always hear about the bad things kids do...how nice to hear about the good ones. (and even nicer when he's your own). You keep dancing up there on cloud nine...looks good on you!!

Thank you Tracey...he's a lovely boy...

Beaming and boasting is just fine with me, Karen! Congratulations on having some POSITIVE bragging news.

You may brag on your children any time you'd like. Sounds like you have a very smart son, Karen.   My son not only taught me how to use my computer, but also taught me html so I could build my poetry web site.  Kids are just amazing.

See Karen,  this is what it is all about...
The highs, so sweet...and those lows, where
we try to remember those highs...

This was super!  Thanx for giving it to us
to share with you...

Karen,
Now I wonder how that happened?! All that hard work and look what you get... Awesome memories you are creating here sweet mama. It seems it's at least worth a poetic spin to celebrate, no?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Isn't it a sad state of affairs that the person with whom your child's education lies has to call and pre-empt her conversation with "this is a happy call..."

You have every right to dance!  May you receive a ton more "happy calls...!"

Of all the accomplishments one could have in their lifetime, raising a good, kind, intelligent, compassionate child is surely the highest ranked one. You are right to be proud of your son (and your daughter). It's wonderful to know that all the love you've given has come back tenfold.

Smooch him for me ok?

Shar? I knew you'd KNOW....he's so great...smiling...he was home when she called, and brought me the phone. He kept hopping up and down while we were talking--
all anxious--

"Did I do something wrong?"

"no baby. You did something RIGHT."

I know you know this joy as well...it's soooooooooo.....nice...

Karen...I see you're not only a good poet, but a wonderful mother as well. They make us so proud when they do things like this, or helping other people out of the kindness of their heart, like simply holding a door open for someone. It only shows that they have the right stuff...Paul
