I try to write things that are beautiful...things that others love to read...things that I feel... I want everyone to know that I am just a guy that is no different than most other guys... I am not a Knight In Shining Armor...for my armor has many chinks and dents in it... I don't always do all of the wonderful things that my poetry might say...Yes, I am very romantic... I enjoy writing romance....I feel romantic.... I also am just me, just little old me that has made my share of mistakes in my lifetime.... My relationship isn't always roses....I have my days when things don't go just right...But, I will say this....I love this lady that I call my wife...I have stood beside her for 32 years.... We were divorced from each other once...about 25 years ago.. And we have learned from it... I still make mistakes...we both do...we are both still learning....and we are trying... I want you ladies to know this... Life isn't always a bowl of cherries. There isn't always a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow.. I am not perfect...never have been...but I do care, about Lou (my wife)...and all of you as well... I just don't want anyone to think that a bond between two people is always perfect...that it is always all of the flowery words...because it is not...and my own life is not either... I just felt that I needed to share this feeling with you...YES...there is hope for each of you that are looking for love and commitment...but the numbers that are close to perfect are not anywhere near what one might want/think... Thank you dear Barry for sharing your feelings here....yes, i also feel the same. the state of perfection lies only in our minds...things seem to be right, only when we see it & feel it that way. where there is no acceptance, either for self or for others, the feeling of emptiness engulfs & the whole starts to become a giant hole, & we will not be able give what we don't have & seed of self-doubt is sown as to whether we are worthy to receive it also. this becomes a vicious circle & requires more of us to get back around....so, have i rambled enough?...felt like i had to say....take care, Barry....  |

Thank you so much for sharing that. Marriage (or any relationship) is something that takes a lot of work to keep going. If one partner doesn't hold up their end, it's doubly hard on the other. And it doesn't pay to walk away at the first sign of trouble. It takes a lot of compromise to make a relationship work. I'm so glad yours working!! Happy Valentine's Day!  |

yep its true but I think love is a lot like friendship how many of us can say we have the same friends since we were kids but yeah i have friendship like that so next time i'm gonna go into a relationship i'm gonna think more about them as a friend. Write what you feel, feel what you wrtie. |

Yes I agree love is not perfect and it's a lot of work and sacrifice. Most of the time love is good but relationships go through crisis and that's when the love is tested and stretched to its limits. Some make it other's get divorce and most break up forever. I do congratulate both you and your wife for getting back together and learning from the mistakes. The poet and the person are two different people, at times the same. I write poetry from experience but also from inspiration.My poetry doesn't always reflect my love life. I admire your poetry regardless of where it's coming from. Thanks for sharing your poetry. |
