Listen up! I just remembered what i learned at a seminar although the details are fuzzy. This is the plan! Every one of us must have around four children and we must teach each one the ways of poetry. That way when our kids have four kids and in about three generations there will be like a couple hundred million new poets in the world because of us and poetry will make its sterling comeback and maybe just maybe the young ones will see the day when they can sign multi-million dollar contracts to write poems all day!! Now now do not marry another poet just yet. Allow other poets to marry non-poets at first so we can get this thing spread out!!

Sounds like a plan Walt ~ But I'll leave it up to the younger generation....my husband couldn't take the shock of hearing another little bundle was on the way....It's been 22 years since he's heard that, and he's really looking forward to no more college tuitions!  But, I will certainly encourage all that are willing!!!  Bonnie

yuh i only got three kids and no possiblity for another... but yuh my oldest is nine and he loves reading my poetry as well as my hero shel silverstein. He has somewhat broken my heart saying he wants to be a scientist. The other two are a lil too young to tell.

Good idea. But then we will have a world filled with poets. That means we will have to watch re-run after re-run on tv.

People leave our lives as quickly as they come, but the ones that mean something leave footprints in our hearts.

Walt~
Marvelous plan.
I've done my part.
Had four wonderful children who just happen
to have the poetic genes ...
and two of them just got married this year so hopefully
next year we will add to the poetic population !

I think this plan is destined to work ! ! !

Walt?  WALT...WOW!!!...if two poets meet, marry, and dispense...they have to have 8 kids...

that evens out the "don't marry a poet" statement, right?

and I have to sigh regretfully decline...unless I can adopt...

marrying a non poet - the easy part

Having four kids who like poetry - the hard part

Walt:

I wouldn't worry if one of your children wants to be a scientist.  Einstein, was a scientist, and a wonderful humanitarian.  I don't know if he wrote poetry, but it would certainly not surprise me if he did.

Science has a cool way of making you want to start writing poetry.  In my case, poetry about how God's managed to get such complex things to work out and form the universe.

Also, I hope to become some sort of well-liked poet.  At least on my spare time.  LOL, and by day I will be just a regular guy, programming computers, lol.

Hey now, I'm too young to be thinking about kids, but I think spreading poetry around isn't a bad idea.
Uh-oh. Now you've given me an idea, Walt. I don't have time to travel the world right now teaching the wonders of poetry. But now I really want to.   Ugh. Well, we'll see what I can do right in this town. My friends look like good targets.

Well, too late for me, but my one child is making up for it, she has 3 girls. Now if I can teach them the value of poetry, we will
be 3 closer to the goal.
(They already have poems I wrote for them on their bedroom wall..I'm trying..)

Between my husband and I, we have 7 kids. I could let someone "borrow" a few. Would that be cool? LOL

How can you save me?
When the dark comes right in and takes me,
from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

My contribution to the conspiracy:

1) An ex husband (non poet when I married/divorced him) who has been converted into the folds of poetry.  Turns out that he is not half bad!

2) A fiance who does not write (yet!) but who loves my poetry (the interest is there...now to get him to pick up a pen).

3) 2 children (ages 5 and 6) who love being the focus of my own writing.  They have both written their first poem already (the "I am" format that someone once posted in here).  Philip, my oldest, attempted a free verse poem.  On the subject of his favorite Pokemon.  He had me list all of their names.  That was it.   )  He's a work in progress!
