I came on here looking for a home and found one. This place helps me express myself and realize that i'm not the only one with problems such as mine. People council me, and give me confidence that whatever I chose to do with my life is going to turn out pretty alright.
So I'd like to know.......What does Passions do for you? Why did you come here and STAY here this whole time?

I've been here for a while...

simply put,

Passions allows my heart to live...

and my words, to have a home...

amid the laughter and cheers, the cries of misguided fear...and most of all, the caring, sharing hearts...

Well D_D, I was sent a poem by a friend sent by another friend that was located at PiP's main site. Explored around a bit, read a lot of classical poetry, and found the forums. 'Course, back then there were only two. Then I got invited to 'Old Blue for my contributions to the two forums. Then I got notified about the new and improved forums, with about 5 or 6 selections to choose from. See how it's grown? Heh...oughta check the bottom of the main forum page for posts and total threads sometime.

When I first came here, it was for purely selfish reasons, seeing other read my work. Then, lo and behold, I found more stuff to read, as well as a wonderful network of friends. And that is why I keep coming back, my network of friends.

Why do I come?  I like poetry, and that's why I stay too !  Wow, amazing, I know.  I suppose a better answer would be that I like hearing other people's points of view, and in forums like these there are a lot of different views that are expressed all in their own way.  And everyone's so nice too

hi DD, well I came across this site by accident as I was surfing the net looking for a place where no judgement and openess is portrayed...

So I took a peak around the main site and decided to open the door to forums...

After reading MANY poems that touched my heart and some that brought tears to my eyes I knew this is the place for me to reside...

And so, as at today, these PoetFriends reeled me in and I became the 'pain in the butt bringing yesterday's poems back to the top' reader that I am...

Because it's like snuggling deep down into your favourite old dressing gown - it's warm, comfortable, has deep pockets, doesn't care what you look like and you just have to reach out and there she is, just waiting for you..

Hi Dopey-Dope,

This same question was part of a challenge some time back, I hope you don't mind me sharing it with you, nothings changed, passions is my refuge still to this day.

A TO Z

My ANTICIPATION some times drives me nuts because I cant wait to get to passions to see what’s up.

I BELIEVE no matter what anyone says poetry is important to me and I have passions to thank for that.

COMPASSIONS are some thing not always easy to express to those in our lives that do not want it, but at passions no one would ever turn it away.

Everyone at passions is DEVOTED to poetry whole heatedly.

My soul is filled with ELATION’S (Pride, Joy) and I have passions to thank.

I have learned to have FAITH in myself and to take chances and I have passions to thank.

GRACIOUS and GIVING are the souls at passions

I have so much more HOPE for the future, where as I did not care if it ever came before.

I am enthusiastic about IMPROVING my poetry because I feel challenged at passions.

There is no way anyone could possibly measure the JOY I feel.

I KEEP and treasure all of my new friends close to my heart.

There is no other place on earth that has so much LOVE to give and share.

This is not just MERELY a place to hang around, we all want to be here. (PASSIONS)

NOBODY judges unfairly or puts you down, even if they do not like what you write.

I am more OPTIMISTIC about writing poetry were as before I was not thanks to passions.

Sense starting at passions I am more at PEACE with myself.

I am becoming very QUICK at typing, I used to hunt and peck.

Everyone at passions RESPECTS the rights of others to write what they believe.

The poets love for poetry and for passions is what makes this place so SPECIAL.

This is one place you can find so many wonderfully TALENTED poets.

UNTIL there was passions in my life, I felt all alone when it came to my poetry.

My VISIONS of life have changed but for the better because of passions.

I have gained so much WISDOM from the poetry I have read at passions.

There are a lot of  (XOXOXOXOX) shared at passions.

I am now very ZEALOUS about writing my poetry and I can thank passions for that.

By, Cerenity

Great job Cerenity....
Back to the question at hand...(clearing throat and straightening garb)
Dopey Dope...
I found this place about a year and some months ago. I posted a couple of poems thinking that would be as far as it would go. I was shocked and delighted to find replies to them. It opened up a whole new world for me, because I was "accepted" into this fold with no muss, no fuss. I made some great friends (winks at 'Becca) and some acquaintances that I hope someday to call friends. Right now I call everybody a part of my family whether close or distant kissing cousins. I do not feel pressured to write (since my muse vacations extensively) and when I have the time to reply I do with wholehearted enthusiasm. I lurk around here often and read quite a bit. I am here every day and check out the great postings and feel connected to others whereas just outside my door, I feel the wolves are baying.

How can you save me?
When the dark comes right in and takes me,
from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

This place is by far, for me, the most comfortable website on the internet. I love passions. I'm so pleased to hear that all of you do aswell. It's great to get feedback on this question.
I pondered over this in the shower a few days ago. I thought to myself "I love passions because....blablabla.....I wonder why the others devote their time to it as much as I do."
So there you go....
glad to hear all your answers and expecting more!

Well, DD... In a nutshell..
quote:

A home without a wall,
Our haven without ends,
A circle we all call
Our Family of Friends!

This is indeed a very special place - Once Upon a Time I made a wish - and it was Passionately granted... I could never ever give back to Passions the equivalent of what I've received.....

What Nan said!
I love this place because I can be in the company of so many other people who feel about things the way I do.

I love the fairness.
I love the acceptance.
I love the kindness.
I love the passion that we all share.

Not everybody has these things in their lives,
but it's always here!

I found this place over a year ago now...

and haven't been the same since lol...

I have found some of my best friends here, and my writing has grown immensely.
Basically I come here and am able to give and receive love and feedback...

it has totally enriched my life.

Whenever I need to talk there is usually someone online (given my location I can always find someone around the world   )

Many of these people I have spoken to on the phone also - (given my location I get unbelievable toll rates that make American's jealous - how does $3 US sound for up to 6 hours guys?)

Plus I have met my dear friend Dark Angel from Australia in r/l and one other person from Auckland...amazing experiences.

This place opens doors...and it is hard to feel alone when one can come here and hear hundreds of silent voices....

What a wonderful question Javier! I echo everyone above, and Cerenity ... that was beautiful!

I started writing a little something in response to to this thread, then I realized I'd said much of the same things before in a little thank you poem I wrote and sent to Ron a few months ago. Every day here, feels like Christmas to me (even though I wrote this mid-summer, LOL)  It sums up my feelings on this question, so I'll copy it here. I'm just overwhelmed with this wonderful place ...

It’s Christmas Time at Passions

I want to share my thoughts with you,
   It’s Christmas time, ‘tis true!
And though you may not know it,
All these gifts I got from you!

An ordinary morn began,
   Like any other day,
I worked my fingers to the bone,
   Then settled down to play.

I logged on to my old PC,
   Straight to the Passions site,
And what did I discover,
  To my wonder and delight?!?

An upload of new poetry,
   A plethora of poems,
Some newly penned by authors,
   Others, “residents” of old.

The news updates, the greeting cards,
   My mind was in a spin;
The Top 100 Poems, I sigh ...
   Such treasures found within!

And back within the forum,
   You had other gems, I see;
The Voices on the Web is soon
   To be reality!

So now you wonder, I am sure,
Just “why” am I so thrilled?
I’m just a minor cog amongst
   This Passions underworld.

But oh ... I have to tell you this,
I “have” to say it right ...
You’ve given me such pleasure
To be part of this sweet life!

I say it’s Christmas and I smile,
For gifts to me are not,
The trinkets that we buy each year,
Oh no ... they’re truly not!

The greatest gift one can receive,
   Comes from another’s heart;
It’s in their actions, in their words,
‘Tis this ... that “you” impart.

For I cannot conceive the time
And care you send our way,
To make these walls a place I take
   Such comfort in each day.

To be a part of something
I have loved my whole life through,
To make a difference, have a voice,
   Through poetry, ‘tis true.

I breathe it in, each day I read
   Another lovely poem,
Within the walls of Passions,
‘Tis a place I call my home.

So thank you Ron, from deep within
My heart, for I have found,
My niche in life, my soul’s desire,
   Where happiness abounds!

I hope you don't mind if I just say thank you (again) Ron, and thank you to everyone who lives within these poetic walls!

I came for the poetry.  Stumbled in here.  And I was soon embraced by people who love the written word as much as I.
I stay for having the experience, the chance to express myself publicly, and the wonderful caring friends and family I have made here.
I can express myself, dream, wonder, fulfill, experience, experiment with my writing and continue with the wonderful friendships I have here.
On the days I don't come to passions I have withdrawl symptoms and really feel as though some integral part of me and my life is missing....
I adore Passions and my friends here  *big hugs one and all*

I can't say what Passions does, only, what it did.

Like many others have stated, I found a home here. But I came here, thinking it was another lousy forum, and another internet play. I came here with an attitude, more so than my norm---and I found people, inside this box, that I connected to readily. All funny, and smart, astute with understanding--
and it made me want to get up in the morning. Grin...and made me wanna stay up late at night. And then, we all like to say, "I got to know them", but the truth is, I let them get to know me. And they haven't kicked me out yet.

I love it here. I think I am learning much, I brag consistently on the quality of teaching that is available, just for the asking...and the friendship, which goes unpriced...of course, nobody understands, but then, nobody ever did before...until...

PASSIONS.

DD~
This is great
I decided to do a search on poetry a while back now and this site came up and I stumbled right on in, at first I was so shy would only read other poeple's work then one day I thought "what the heck" and posted one of my own. The responces I got were beautiful and I gained confidence in myself and my poetry.
I stayed because this place is filled with the most beautiful and talented poeple who don't care if you don't quite get a poem write they care about what's being said and that means alot to me.
This place is a haven to us all and we should always respect each other as we would our own family...it's our home and the poeple here are our family.
Well done for giving us the opportunity to say how we feel about passions

I came here cause I couldnt post on the main Passions page. And the more I posted my work the more I wanted to come back. I honestly feel as if I am addicted to this place. But thats a good thing cause I love it here. Its a place where I can let my feelings out without being judged.

when i was just startin to write, i searched the web for a place in which i can post and receive guidance...Hence i stumbled upon passions....

i love the written word and the way how different people interpret a poem differently...it delights me also to find that someone has managed to put across a cliche-ridden topic such as love and friendship and put it in his original, refreshing way that makes you go "Hey, how come i never see that this way before?"

i stay becos i am having so much fun..it feels strange to call myself a poet but it feels real good to be able to read and to share here at passions!!

i will like to say i have grown just a little...from a selfish self-involved brat who wishes for others to comment on his work, i have turned into this zealous fellow, reading not becos i want you to scratch my back but becos i am interested in what you have to say

On with the reading!
