IGNORED!!!

Constantly having had people read in between lines that are not there?

Disregarded?

Snubbed?

Outcast for speaking up?

all familiar feelings, but don't worry....things will get better. Everyone has their moods.

You have no idea!!!

Seriously, I can certainly understand where you're coming from. Some might argue that I bring it on myself, which is true, in as much as I'm still just being me.

I think it's almost inevitable that people will read/hear/see things from a point of view colored by their lives; experiences; mood. I personally don't believe there's such a thing as true objectivity. These things affect how they feel about what they read/hear/see. And if you're talking about something written, here or elsewhere, there's another big factor to take into account: People can't hear your tone. It's very difficult to portray that in writing, without actually spelling it out. I've fallen into that pitfall myself on occasions too numerous to count. Sometimes a joke won't come through as such, simply because the people reading it are doing so with a different set of eyes.

As far as the ignored part - Just do what I do: Pester them until they can't ignore you anymore!

(I SO know about getting in trouble for "speaking up...)

Um. . .let's see. . .

yes

Yes

YES

and YES!

I agree with Christopher. . . people read with the eyes that they have. . . colored by their own experiences. . . sometimes, things don't come out right. . . you hope that people understand, but sometimes, they don't. . .and that's where the problems start. . .

Personally, I try not to read between the lines. . . and look at what's there on the page. . . sometimes, that's easy. . . but if you don't know the person whose writing you're reading. . . it's not so easy (and yes, I do have a gift for stating the obvious. . . )

And who could ignore me??  lol

You know what a big mouth I have. . . (I can hear all of you snickering out there!)

One more thing Jenn, I find it hard that anyone could ignore you

Jenn, what a perfect topic here, this definitely can not be ignored, I believe sometimes we fall into certain catagories sometimes people love to hear sad and depressing sometimes sexy and hot sometimes happy go lucky sometimes puppy dog love and I just don't know what catagory I fit into it. I kind of go into all of them. I know what you mean though and Have felt this way myself, some people do make attempts to read my poetry even though I sometimes make no sense at all and not all poetry has to be defined talking about reading between the lines, anyways life is profound enough for me so with this I guess there's not a clear cut answer. But very intriguing to say the least or most lol

gosh, I am new here, and this is not directed at
anyone in particular, and most of the time
it's just me.....imposing my insecurities,
but yes, yes, yes...I know what you are saying.

thanks for voicing,
it makes me feel less
out there, by myself,

a friendly hug,
Z

Well, here comes Pollyanna !

No
No
No
No and ...
No

I'm reminded to share the words of Edwin Markham -

He drew a circle that shut me out -
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But love and I had the wit to win -
We drew a circle that took him in.

Now get back in this circle !

Yes to all of your questions Temptress.
I too have to agree with Chris, you never know how someone "hears" what you're saying.
I've also found that a lot of times, people may be going through a rough time in their lives, or even just having a bad day.
I understand where you're coming from.

I feel your pain.  I think we all can feel that way from time to time.  What gets me out of that slump?  Friends , Family, and a big old tub of ice cream.
