I've always believed that to really love others, you have to love yourself first.  That being said. . .

WHAT IS THERE ABOUT YOU FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE?

Really look inside yourselves and tell me what there is about you that someone should love.  Is it your sense of humor?  The way that you make cookies?  Your way with kids?  What is it?

For me, there's a lot of things. . . my sense of humour, my outgoing personality. . . and for some, it's my smile. . .

There. . . I've said mine. . . what about you??

I think for me:

1. Would be my sense of humour
2. May way with animals

Those would be the two main points.

Now that's what I call a tricky question Sven! I would say....

1) my openness about my feelings
2) the fact I am willing to listen to someones point of view and talk about things rather than ram my opinion down their throat
3) the fact that I'm a big strong roughty-toughty tree surgeon type blokey with a big soft tender heart tucked away inside

they're probably the main ones anyway. I could get a second opinion, but then that's not what you asked is it?

Hmmm god that's a hard'un Sven...

Eric sounds wunnerful! *wink*

hmmm *thinking*
ok I think I am a very giving person (contrary to claims of me being selfish by someone I know......), I love to make people happy, by a tiny gift (a baby sand dollar, a bit of odd moss, a pretty stone) or a small kiss, or a big squishy hug when needed, or a gift of my time....

I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that my sons KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that I absolutely adore them, that I adore everything about them, from their freckles to their blue eyes, to the way my littlest boy wrapped his arms around me in the kitchen one night after my husband and I had split up and looked up into my eyes (I was so stressed) and sang "Everything's gonna be alright, rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye" I couldn't stop kissing and hugging him LOL. To the way my oldest son is so tall now and can put his arm across my shoulder *sigh*. I do love them so.

Oh and....how much I love my baby kitty Darjeeling   if this doesn't sucker ya into loving me....nothing will *wink* *nudge*

I guess these things must be why I inspire such devotion in the men in my life???
I dunno really....

Okay, I've got it now.

1.  My ability to think quickly.

2.  My sense of humor.

Trickly question. If someone doesn't reply does that mean there is nothing about them that is lovable? Then do we, as their friend, jump up and down and list things for them? If I say not one durn thing that I know of, will someone dispute it? I would hope not..clear this up for me and I'll answer the question.

LOL at Serenity...and at PdV for waffling...

I'm not great at introspection, for all of my half-full optimism, I do not see what folks like about me, let alone love about me, because of this little inner voice that is so critical...

but I have heard what some folks have said about me, and my humbleness will just have to leave you guessing...

so by my poetry [and PdV, this is MY back door...] you'll just have to tell me what you think it is...

Hugs!

Hm, a tough question indeed...well..

1)My compassion for others.
2)My smile
3)The extreme amount of love in my heart and my willingness to give all of myself to help those I care about.

Well, I see that I have gotten some interesting responses to this question.

serenity, I always knew that you were quick on your feet!!!  LOL

But I have a clarification for you Miss deVine. . . if you say that there is nothing about you to love, I as your friend will not list for you the things that I think are wonderful about you.  It's up to you to see in yourself those things that I and others see inside of you.

I can give you the mirror, but it's up to you to open your eyes and see what's wonderful about yourself.  Only then will you truly be able to love someone else fully. . .

So, take another look. . . I think that you'll see. . .

Well, I'll go with what certain people keep pointing out that they like about me...
1. My Smile
2. The way I write(that I'm DEEP, LOL)
3. That I hang in there regardless of how I feel
That's enough!! This is really hard to do right now, lately, considering how angry I have been with myself for the some of the choices I have made!!

Gosh, now if I answer will I sound egotistical????
Ok here's three:
I have strong opinions on most subjects...
The fact that people think they know me when they know only a part of me...
And what amazes me most about me is that the animals and people I interact with, whether it be once in a lifetime or once a second, see something in me that is worthwhile to love and/or like...

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

You know, I've always found that when I ask this question, people have a hard time answering it. . .

They look at the way that their life has gone, then they think that if they say something about themselves that they will appear to be self-centered. . .

Have we really come so far that we can't look at ourselves and see the things that make us what and who we are??

Here's an exercise. . . tomorrow, look at yourself in the mirror. . . I mean really look at yourself. . . and tell yourself what there is about you to really like. . . just take 5 minutes to do this. . . I think that you'll be amazed at what it can do for you!!

Thank you, we're out of time for now. . . we'll talk about this more next week!

Sven, great question, and yes, I am having a difficult time answering it myself, I'll go by what other people say that they like best about me

1. My sense of humour
2. My hearty laugh
3. I am compassionate and giving
4. My eyes

As you can see, nothing too special

Take care,
Melissa Honeybee

P.S: And Sven, we love and admire you for your romantic heart!

Hey Melissa, why not take a look at yourself and see yourself as you do. . . and not as others. . .

I know that it's hard, but I know that you can do it. . . you have it in you my friend. . .

1) My perseverance
2) My ability to love unconditionally.
3) The way I accept who I am

Are these strange? Anyway....thanks for the question, Sven!!

No ESP, those aren't strange. . .they're wonderful. . .

It's what YOU feel that you love about yourself that someone else would love. . . like I said, we have to love ourselves (meaning we have to LEARN to love ourselves) before we can really love others. . .

You have found some excellent things ESP, you obviously have a lot to offer!!!

Fine, then I guess that I like my sense of humour and that I'm good with children, everything else, I am very critical of about myself.  I'm my own worst enemy, I can never please myself.

Is that an acceptable answer now?

Take care,

Much better Melissa. . . yes, you're right. . .we can be our own worst enemies a lot of the time. . . when we begin to listen to what others say about us. . .especially the negative things. . . we can start to believe them. . .

That's why we have to listen to our own voices. . . the ones that tell us that we're special. . .that we are wonderful. . . they're the ones that we should be listening to. . . it's just that we worry about what OTHERS think. . . when it's what WE think that counts!!!

Good job Melissa!!!

excellent advice here,Sven..hmmm what do i like about myself?hmmm...

well,the things i am that i like:

1)the way i can try to find the silver lining in the dark cloud
2)a good loser...i will still smile graciously when i am defeated
3)my sense of humour(though this makes me look like a 5-year old kid at times...and yes, that does mean i can take crappy jokes directed at me)
4)me being a good listener(not a good counseller though)

well, thats ME, Sven..thanx 4 this opportunity to reflect on myself
