How many times have you or someone you're close to been in a relationship where one party has a lot of qualities the other party has been craving, only to have those qualities unappreciated or even ridiculed when they find them in someone they come to care for? It's almost like people say they want a partner with qualities they think they SHOULD want, not the ones they actually want.

Example: I have never known a straight woman who didn't say she'd like to have a man in her life who is sensitive, caring and not afraid to express his feelings openly. I have also never known one who appreciates such a man for very long. Comments?

Well here's my two cents: From a woman's point of view.
Yes indeed we want all that stuff but our problem is details. We want you to express your feelings but we don't want you to shout it at us, act it out, or have no tact. We also don't want all the other ingredients they may come mixed in with the sharing of feelings. ie. conflicting body language and facial expressions or neglect when "her" feelings need to be acknowledged. It's not good to add salt to a cup of hot chocolate...it kills the original flavor.
