LR41, Times Three

Some things are more silly than others.
Today I am buying batteries
for a pen I will not use.

The ink is still good, but the batteries –
Oh, because it has a light inside.
I thought I would write at night.

Unused on the nightstand,
its tiny charge drained off into the air.
Was it impatient, I wonder?

I mean, all those nights
it waited for me to need it
so that when I finally did, dead.

I did try twice, disasters both.
In the dark, its spark turned torch, klieg,
and I froze in it, blank as the page.

Now, batteries. I don’t know why.

Yep, some things just have so much irony, they'll bruise you if you touch 'em!

I never thought about writing at night in the dark but it may be a good to try

I guess I'll buy extra batteries just in case

I suppose that's the raincoat of life. You walk around wearing a yellow rain coat and never will there be a good rain. (That probably made no sense :p)

I enjoyed this very much. You seem to find subject in the most interesting things.

Once you are truly insane, it’s all picnics with Kafka after that. See, it’s the process of going crazy that you gotta worry about.

Ahhh Rat, birds of a feather! I too have one of those pens. The difference is, I actually use mine. Now the real issue is, while it does indeed make a light bright enough to find the paper, it is not strong enough to improve my hand writing. But then, is anything? So come the light of day, I see I did indeed write, but I can read nary a word!!!

It isn't silly for such a poet to be prepared for any possibility. *S* Just because it hasn't been of use before doesn't mean it won't be exactly what you need on some night when the poetry isn't shy, but demanding. *S*

I love this... especially since my lighted pen is never near when the words wake me... leaving me to decipher my scribbles the next morning! *G*

Buy the batteries.  If you don't, you'll regret it.  If it never works, if you never write anything with it, at least it's ready, you know?  But if it's not ready, we'll lose Xanadu.

Yep, I like this.

I would probably use the pen for those nights that I can't sleep --

-- making lists

1.  Batteries
2.  Paper
3.  NyQuil
4.  Tequila
5.  New Computer
6.     .. Where can I buy inspiration?

teh heh.. I would kill for a pen that has a light!

...but not because I'd use it.
