Morning light burning my eyes Waking up to candy wrappers and McDonald’s French fries Stayed up too late watching “The Andy Griffith Show” I shouldn’t really be so irresponsible I know But being with you I feel so free It’s like the blindfolds gone and I can finally see You make even simple things feel exiting Your smile is always so inviting! I see you sleeping next to me on the couch You look so uncomfortable and slouched Yet you stayed with me through the night Helping me forget my tears and fright Just being my friend but I think it’s something more Popcorn and jellybeans cover the floor I laugh at you as you wake up and whine Saying that I get the floor next time Stepping over games and garbage too My funny face angel that is you Thank you for being here when I needed someone the most And all you ask in return is some eggs and French toast ~Thanks to a friend who got me through a painful night~ (May you look half as attractive as I do in the mornings!) |
