a plum on the sidewalk

one torn plum
its redblue juice

a liquid stain

even the ornamental
plum tree

brings fruit sometimes

I always miss it

Ed

The flowering peach gave one little peach...it's still hanging there all shriveled up.  Each image of life, a stain on the sidewalk of our minds perhaps?

An ornamental plum's fruit is exactly the color of the leaves, so you miss 'em every time.... just once I'd like to taste one, even though being bred for looks and not fruit, it's probably not a, um, rewarding fruit experience.....

PS had it right... this invites contemplation... of all we miss and why... and all the little losses that may go unnoticed as we concentrate on the big ones.

Excellent work!!!

This is a very contemplative work that I like a great deal. Your comment about it not being a very rewarding fruit experience slayed me! Humor and fodder for deeper thought all in one. Thank you!
