There's rosemary, that's for remembrance; pray, love, remember: and there is pansies. That's for thoughts.

       ~Shakespeare

what then
my dear ophelia
is for madness
what sweet petaled thing
eases the feeling of reaching through clouds
to feel the earth
firm in a soft hand
what smell hastens
the taste of black and white
what herb makes easier
the struggle
when words will not say themselves
give up their meaning
yet cry for understanding
laugh in useless meter

what then my dear ophelia
shall we say of adoration
where shall we look
for roots to heal it
for it brings on
such sweet madness

Kate, this is just the right way to end my day. The only thing better will be to start off the next by drifting though its phrasing yet again.

...and there is thyme...
to read poetry such as this.

Well done, Kate.  I enjoy taking
from the classics or quotations,
such as you have...and draw forth
something new, and fresh.

:: Takes a deep breath  and words spew out ::

I am in love with how you write.  You just take me on this emotional and visual journey with you.  It's like story time before bed.  You wrap me in words and fuel my imagination.  Your word voice soothes my soul.
