Poetry in Reply

I would like to say you are poetry
but you are not, you are more prose
it is not that I do not see the poetry
that it lies deep within your soul
the sound of your voice is lyric measure
even the stir of breath as you sleep
the way my heart skips with thought
the uncontrollable throbbing ache when apart
the calming touch you have at command
yet it is just another verse of you to me
and poetry is much too short and sweet
no, you are the unending chapters of
what was, what is, and what shall be
now and forever the prose of my life
living poetry in reply
