I say a smile is worth its weight in gold
I say a smile can light the coldest room
I say a smile can warm the blackest heart
I say a smile can brighten the darkest hour
I say a smile can redeem the cruelest word
I say a smile can melt the saddest eyes
I say because I know..

When you smile you leave a watermark of goodness for someone else to give ...

smiles are the symbole of both ambiguity and delight. mysterious because of the nature of unsure pleasure, jubilant because the gender of smile is serendipity.

so, can't there evil in a smile? does not the rapist smile while raping? does not the raped child smile when touched into unclean pleasures?

always consider the whole, not just the good, but the evil also, of what you are writing. especially when considering the subject of smiles. (just giving my thoughts to your poem)

hmmm... good point Matthew - thank you for your comment.. my smiles don't hold any evil though, just goodness.. but I can see where you are coming from... thanks again for your comment, they are valued.

Happy New Year to you

Naw, you can't keep a smile
all to yourself, it's meant
to be shared.  Enjoyed, Poet!

Lovely Ms RDB.... when a smile is as pretty as yours... it does catch the eye of the world.... even a Cynic.
